Recipe: Banana Carob Balls

HEALTHY RECIPE: BANANA CAROB BALLS

On Sunday we like to spend some time in the kitchen, preparing healthy snacks for the coming week and having family fun in the kitchen! In this blog we want to share one of our favorite recipes with you.

Banana carob balls are super easy to make, very healthy and vegan. They contain the amazing superfood Carob, from the legume family, growing on trees here in the Algarve. Carob contains vitamins A, B, B2, B3 and D, and it is also a good source of protein. It has a chocolate like taste but is free of stimulants so safe for your little ones. And it is a great source of calcium, containing more than three times as much calcium as mik.

Let’s get started!

Ingredients

  • Bananas

  • Carob flour

  • Oats

  • Dried fruits and nuts

  • Coconut oil

  • Cinnamon

  • Sea salt

Instructions

➡ Start with mixing in a large bowl a few mashed bananas, dried fruits and chopped nuts you like, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (melted), cinnamon to balance the blood sugar, and a pinch of sea salt

➡Add carob flour until the taste is as you wish

➡Add as much oats as needed to get a good consistency

➡Roll the mixture into balls

➡Heat your oven to 180 degrees, 8 minutes in the oven

Let them cool and yummm! Juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

A wholesome snack, handy when you need an afternoon pick-me-up snack, pre-workout fuel or healthy treat for your kids.

Enjoy!

Family fun in the kitchen.
